Job Description

The Analyst of Business Analytics will support the Business Analytics department with company performance analysis, including the completion of key reporting cadences, including quarterly business review, analyst calls, and board of director’s materials. The Analyst will be responsible for accurate and timely completion of standardized reporting across a wide spectrum of relevant subjects, including macroeconomic, industry, competitive and development data, with a focus upon continual improvement and refinement of processes and output.

What will I be doing?

The Analyst of Business Analytics will complete analytical and other projects, as requested by the Vice President of Business Analytics and the Director of Business Analytics, as well as independently for department deliverables and actionable ad-hoc analyses using business intelligence and other analytical tools.

Other key priorities are listed below:

  • Management & Analysis Activities:
    • Gather appropriate data or information from all relevant sources (internal financial databases, third-party data sources, and pipeline)
    • Play an active role in collecting, reviewing, and creating key analytical content for the Quarterly Business Review (QBR) and Quarterly Earnings Call
    • Serve as an expert, for Business Analytics and internal partners, on STR census, STR pipeline, HLT development metrics, DMPE, and Finance MSTR databases
    • Provide consistent and exceptional service for time-sensitive data requests from the corporate communications team for public use, reviewing all releases, which include data before publication
    • Develop, update and distribute Development reports for MBR, QBR, Board of Directors, Earnings Call, and other up and out reporting
    • Analyze HLT and industry data and reports for use in decision-making processes of other departments
  • Reporting & Forecasting Activities:
    • Integrate complex analyses into recurring reports and dashboards
    • Create operational, industry, and economic dashboards and reports for various departments within the organization
    • Generate reports for distribution corporate wide
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including FP&A, Accounting, Development, and Revenue Management to produce results-oriented solutions to specific challenges
  • Support Activities:
    • Communicate with the Business Analytics team leadership providing them the information relevant to the business need
    • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with all members of the Business Analytics team
    • Support the Director of Business Analytics with workflow management for team projects, including Quarterly Business Review and Quarterly Earnings
    • Collaborate with the Director to establish specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish project and department goals
    • Attend departmental meetings pertinent to work assignments and address topics of analysis
    • Research and respond to information requests from internal departments and management
    • Assist with the organization and management of reports and documentation
    • Develop process documentation and assist with reporting and analysis training for Rotational Analysts

    • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
    • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
Job Requirements

What are we looking for?

To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in an Analytical role
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Exceptional critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Proficient in VBA with the ability to quickly learn new programs when required

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • MA/MS Master’s Degree
  • A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of Analytical experience within the Finance and/or Hospitality field
  • Hospitality industry experience
  • Proficiency with MicroStrategy, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or other business intelligence tools
