Job Description

The Assistant Director of Catering at Doubletree Santa Barbara Fess Parker, soon-to-be Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort will assist the Director in the administration of the activities of the local catering department as it relates to supervision, training, establishing standard procedures, communications between departments, and the consistency and quality of the product and services provided to the customer. Meets with local catering clients and prospective clients to determine needs and plan and create menus and functions. Accordingly prepares and writes contracts for client functions. Represents the hotel to clientele and negotiates pricing with clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Solicits new accounts and reviews previous Banquet files to generate repeat business while maintaining existing accounts.  Oversees service of group functions once they are in house. Supports Director of Events in daily department operations, customer conflict resolution, interaction with National Sales, generation of corporate and hotel level reports, business and market plan development and implementation, annual and monthly forecast and budget, training and development of event management team.
  • Selects, trains, schedules, supervises and directs the activities of the Catering staff,  Blue Coats and Affiliate Manager in the proper preparation and execution of contracts, orders, menus, memos, charges, files, etc. Organizes and conducts staff meetings to coordinate successful functions.
  • Develops business plans, budgets, revenue goals, forecasts for food and beverage items, menus, room rentals, and creates reports against same to monitor progress.
  • Participates in meetings as appropriate, to ensure communication between departments while helping to ensure clients' needs are met.
