Job Description

The Grand Wailea Resort & Spa is on 40 acres of tropical gardens bordering Wailea Beach, this luxe resort is next to Wailea Blue Golf Course an island delight is looking for a Controller to join their team!

As a Controller, you must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Experience with software packages in general use for hotel property management, payroll and general accounting as well as spreadsheet software. Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals. Able to set priorities, plan, organize, delegate, and control. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with management and staff. Written communication skills to be concise, well organized, complete, clear and understandable in order to formulate complex reports and communicate with staff, corporate offices, and owners. Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines. Ability to remain stationary and concentrate on tasks for long periods of time.

What will I be doing?

Specifically, you would be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
  • Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts for the Accounting and Executive departments
  • Is responsible for coordinating tax compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes. Works with corporate tax staff and outside consultants on income tax issues
  • Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary
  • Is responsible for the maintenance of internal controls and security over cash and all general cashiering functions
  • Minimizes outstanding receivables, insures prompt, timely and adequate processing of all billings. Insures compliance with established credit procedures. Provides for prompt, timely and adequate processing of all billings. Insures timely collection follow-up of delinquent receivables.
  • Verifies the taking of all inventories. Reports on inventory valuation and cost of sales for Food & Beverage and Retail. Investigates inventory variances


Job Requirements

What are we looking for?

EDUCATION

College degree in accounting or finance preferred. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three years experience as a hotel Controller.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

CPA certificate a plus

GROOMING

All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
