What originally brought you to Hilton?
“I grew up in Clearwater Beach and spent a lot of time soaking up the sun and enjoying the pristine white beaches. The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa was always an icon on the beach and served as a backdrop to my life. After high school, I quickly realized that college/university was not in my life plan, so I searched for options to start a career. I had some experience as a bellhop while in high school and always enjoyed the hospitality industry, which led me to apply with Hilton. It turns out the hotel I had known almost my entire life was going to be the place where I found my calling.”
You’ve progressed in your career over the last decade from a Guest Service Agent on-property to your current Corporate role of Senior Manager, Global Recognition. How did you make the transition from hotel to Corporate?
“During my time on-property, I was lucky enough to work at one of our big-box locations (large hotels with over a thousand rooms). As a result, we were often used as host locations for conferences and were selected to test new programs. I would help lead the planning or launch of these activations, taking the opportunity to learn as much as I could, and met and built relationships with many Corporate Team Members who were part of the conferences or programs.
When I decided to move from working on-property to Corporate, I leaned on those relationships to understand what opportunities were available, and I took advantage of extensive practice interviews and mentoring conversations. I applied to various roles that aligned with my interest in company culture and brand performance, and I was offered a role Corporate in 2019.”
How has Hilton supported your professional growth over the course of your career?
“I utilized one of the opportunities available and completed the pilot version of a leadership program (now Lead 2.1), where I learned skills to cultivate meaningful professional relationships, collaboration, workplace culture, and team development. In addition to the training I’ve received and courses from Hilton University, in my current role as the Recognition subject matter expert at Hilton, I have been able to attend various external organization conferences where I have met like-minded professionals. This keeps me current on best practices and allows me to bring new ideas to Hilton.”
What has been a career highlight for you so far?
“At Hilton, we have a special award-the CEO Light & Warmth Award. It is the company’s highest honor celebrating Hilton team members around the world who exemplify Hilton’s values and honor Hilton’s purpose to fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality. When I won this award in 2018, it was an amazing moment and highlight of my career!”
You’ve had your share of recognition over the years and are an integral part of how team members at Hilton are recognized. What brings you the most joy with this role?
“The Recognition team at Hilton ensures that the hard work and dedication are acknowledged. We create opportunities to recognize and appreciate our Team Members. My favorite part of this role is reading the nominations for our Hospitality Heroes. With this award, we recognize stellar individuals for the heroic ways they went above and beyond to help our guests in times of crisis or to make their dreams come true, and the stories often bring me to tears. I also love the CEO Light & Warmth Awards. Our Team Members truly are the best and turn moments into memories that last a lifetime. I think Conrad Hilton would be proud that we truly have carried out his vision to spread the light and warmth of hospitality!”

On a personal note, you just had a gorgeous wedding at the Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. What led you to choose this property for this momentous occasion? Any special moments you feel made the day more memorable?
“It was truly a full circle moment. After starting my career at Hilton Clearwater Beach and seeing so many couples say “I Do” on the beach, I just knew I wanted to do the same! We used our Go Hilton travel benefit to book the rooms (for the wedding and our honeymoon at Hilton Hawaiian Village), and the team at the hotel made our wedding truly unforgettable. They made every moment effortless and helped to ensure all our guests had the best experience. A special shoutout to my sister, Haily Dick, who just happens to be the Wedding Coordinator at the hotel! It was truly special for her to be able to help plan my wedding and enjoy it with us! The other best part of the day was the sunset…. It was truly picture perfect!”
