With over ninety years of tenure between them at the Hilton London Watford, these two remarkable Team Members were honored for their dedication in one of our most unique ways yet – by naming the hotel’s restaurant (Jaime’s) and bar (Rayner) after them. Get to Know Jaime – a Lifelong Dedication to Hospitality

Jaime’s journey with Hilton London Watford began in a serendipitous moment over fifty-two years ago. As Sally, the hotel’s general manager, recounts, “Jaime was on his way to another interview when he needed to use the facilities. He bumped into the General Manager at the time, got to talking, and was offered a job in our restaurant. He has worked there ever since in various roles, including Restaurant Manager.” For Sally, naming the restaurant after Jaime was an easy decision. “His story is so exceptional,” she shared. “When we were looking for a new restaurant name, his was the perfect choice.”

Jaime’s love for his work is evident. “I love to make people happy. I am a people person. It gives me great satisfaction when people feel welcome and are in good spirits at the hotel,” he said. His passion for hospitality extends beyond the restaurant. Six years ago, Hilton London Watford created a small garden, which Jaime now tends to. This garden not only enhances the hotel but also provides fresh herbs, strawberries, beans, and other vegetables used in its kitchen.
Reflecting on the hotel’s evolution from when he first joined to today, Jaime noted, “I’ve seen the hotel change in many ways, from styling to architectural changes. I have seen technology come in and completely change the way we serve guests, order food, and run the hotel. [However], the fundamentals of hospitality have never changed.” This commitment to guest satisfaction has made Jaime an integral part of the Hilton London Watford.
Get to Know Esme – the Heart of Hilton London Watford’s Mornings

A member of the hotel’s breakfast team, Esme is well-known for her impeccable memory and individualized touch. “There is only one Esme,” Sally shared. “She is so loved and respected by all who know her, and we named our hotel bar after her in honor of the hard work and joy she has brought to our hotel.”
Esme’s journey at the Hilton London Watford began over forty years ago when she worked evenings and events while caring for her family. As her children grew up, she moved to mornings for the routine. “Working here helped me raise all seven of my children. Nowadays, I enjoy the ability to keep working and stay active,” she stated. Reflecting on her career, Esme said her best advice for those early in their hospitality careers is to “embrace teamwork.” Her love for creating warm guest experiences has been a hallmark of her career.

When asked about the moment she learned the bar would be named after her, Esme recalled, “I was so shocked and surprised. After the many years I have worked in this establishment, I am so proud that the bar is named after me.” This recognition celebrates her contributions. It also serves as an inspiration to her colleagues. “I hope this encourages other Team Members [and lets them know] that their hard work is noticed and appreciated.”
