Job Description

An Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for paying all hotel bills in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

This position may work a varied schedule, with some weekends and/or holidays required based on business and departmental need.


What will I be doing?

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you would be responsible for paying all hotel bills in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Pay and record bills upon verification of accuracy, back-up documentation and appropriate approvals
  • Complete month-end responsibilities
  • Coordinate receiving tickets, purchase orders and invoices for proper coding and approval signature
  • Ensure all accounts are current, reconcile vendor statements and maintain record of payments
  • Conduct research and prepare reports, as needed
Job Requirements

What are we looking for?

EDUCATION
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma required.
EXPERIENCE
Prior Customer Service and Computer Experience Required. Ability to fully operate a 10-Key Calculator. Ability to type at a minimum of 40WPM. Accounting experience, specifically with A/P, and Hospitality experience preferred.  
Must have a high degree of proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel and Outlook. POS and/or PMS experience a plus.
GROOMING
All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance (specific standards available). Business attire required
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
  • Knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, etc.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to operate a 10-key by touch, and other office equipment.
  • Proficiency with software and systems including all Microsoft Office applications, PMS/POS applications, Credit Card processing systems, etc
  • Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer and providing positive and proactive solutions.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using moderately complex computer system applications. Also must be able to balance large amounts of charges efficiently and accurately. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to understand and communicate with employees and guests. Must possess and maintain proficient telephone etiquette.
