About the role

As the Regional Director of Finance, Australasia, you will have a passion for Finance and business strategy. You will be the dedicated point of contact for hotels, owners, and regional teams to execute Finance activities, with the aim of maximizing value. You will develop the quality of output as well as Human Capital of the finance function within the hotels.  In this role you will be reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance, Asia Pacific.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of Operations, Australasia and hotel General Managers to communicate with the owners regarding Finance initiatives & programs as necessary
  • Implement best practice financial accounting processes for the Hotels in a robust control environment
  • Encourage and work with the hotels to develop the production of high quality management information that is timely, accurate and thought provoking.
  • Support and advice on financial and commercial matters to the VP and to the hotels, including the interpretation of financial data.
  • Review management information for hotels in the Region and make proposals for the VP for value added initiatives. Provide financial and commercial skills to support business development initiatives.
  • Make periodic visits to hotels to review business performance, key financial and business issues, balance sheet and finance department operations.
  • Work with the hotels to minimize, and develop their skills in managing, working capital.
  • Encourage the ongoing development of management reporting, putting us on the cutting edge of performance measurement.
  • Take the lead with the financial and accounting aspects of new hotel openings.
  • Assist the hotels with development & implementation of corporate driven financial systems.
  • Take a lead role with the VP in hotel strategic planning. Particular emphasis on Master-Planning and thinking outside the box to identify value opportunities.
  • Manage the formulation, review and approval process for budgeting within the hotels.
  • Work with the hotels to develop more accurate forecasting techniques, and to take action on the outcome of forecast updates. Support hotels on major pricing decisions and other commercial decision making.
  • Recruit and retain the best people for the job, especially at Hotel Finance Director and Assistant level. Make use of succession planning to develop and replace individuals effectively.

To successfully fill this role you will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Senior Finance Management role and should maintain the following skills and values;
  • Relevant degree, in Finance or related business discipline
  • Qualified accountant (e.g. CA)
  •  Sound experience working within the hotel or service industry preferably in a multi-unit capacity
  • Possess the interpersonal skills to interact at the highest level with hotel operators and owners Strong influencing, leadership skills, inter-personal and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and leadership skills
  • Strong problem solving skills, including ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate; ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems; ability to help develop problem solving skills among direct reports and other team members as appropriate
  • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for team to fulfil responsibilities in accordance with core strategic goal
  • Open to travel
