Leading with Resilience: Gretchen Moore’s Leadership Journey Through the LX Program

Vice President of Marketing & Loyalty Asia-Pacific, Gretchen Moore, began her Hilton career journey as the Destination Marketing Director for Continental Europe before transitioning to Senior Director of Marketing & eCommerce for Europe, the Middle East & Africa. Throughout her career, she has embraced opportunities to grow as a leader while supporting and developing those around her.

One experience that had a lasting impact on Gretchen’s leadership journey was Hilton’s LX Program. Designed to help Team Members learn directly from senior leaders, reflect on their leadership approach, and build meaningful connections across the business, the program provided Gretchen with new perspectives that continue to shape the way she leads today.

Reflecting on the experience, Gretchen shared:

Having the opportunity to hear directly from our leaders about their career journeys and leadership lessons, including the harder moments along the way, was incredibly powerful. It challenged me to reflect on what it takes to lead with resilience and to better support my team.”

What motivated you to participate in the LX Program, and what did you hope to gain from the experience?

“I was motivated to participate in the LX Program by the opportunity to hear directly from our Executive leaders about their career journeys and leadership lessons. Having that level of access and honesty was a real privilege. What stood out most was the openness with which they shared not just their successes, but also the harder moments along the way. Their vulnerability and generosity made the experience incredibly powerful and far exceeded my expectations.”

Can you share a moment from the program that challenged you or helped you grow as a leader?

“One of the most valuable aspects of the program was exploring the less obvious dimensions of leadership, for example, stress management and resilience. It challenged me to reflect on the mental strength required to consistently show up for your team. A key takeaway for me was that effective leadership means building habits and tools that help you manage pressure and avoid burnout. Since then, I’ve been more intentional not only about my own wellbeing, but also about supporting my team to find the outlets and practices that help them perform at their best.”

How has the program influenced the way you lead or support your team today?

“One theme that came strongly from many of the leaders in the program was the idea of letting the work lead. Great work ultimately speaks for itself, and leaders play an important role in enabling that. It reinforced for me the importance of staying close to the team and being present in the work itself, so they know they can count on my support when it matters. My focus is on helping remove obstacles, clearing the path where needed, and creating the conditions for the team to deliver on the goals they set for themselves.”

What advice would you give to other Team Members who are considering participating in a leadership development program at Hilton?

“My advice would be to approach the experience with openness and curiosity. Leadership programs like this create a rare space to step back from day-to-day and reflect on how you lead, learn from the experiences of others, and challenge your own perspectives. The more you lean into the conversations and the insights shared, the more you will take away. It’s a valuable opportunity not only to grow as a leader, but also to connect more deeply with the people and ideas shaping the future of the organization.”
