Leading with Service

At Hilton, it is more than a job. It is a shared set of values that unites us across roles and experiences.

For Luis, Account Supervisor, Business Development on the Hilton Reservations and Customer Care (HRCC) team, these values have not only shaped his career at Hilton but also inspired him to pursue a calling beyond the workplace. After several years at Hilton, he joined the Florida Army National Guard to fulfill a long-standing desire to serve his community and country. Driven by a passion for helping others and a dedication to service that aligns closely with Hilton’s founding purpose, he has continued to bring his unique skillset to both roles. Continue reading as Luis reflects on these dual roles—as a dedicated Hilton Team Member and a service member—and shares the experiences that have shaped his approach to leadership, teamwork, and community.

What drew you to Hilton, and how have your experiences in the National Guard influenced your career here?

“What drew me to Hilton is our steadfast dedication to hospitality and caring for others. I began my career with Hilton long before joining the Army National Guard, and my passion for serving others was a significant factor in my decision to enlist. My military experience has profoundly shaped my career, particularly in areas like leadership, teamwork, and striving to achieve our goals.”

What do you love most about your role and the work you do at Hilton?

“I love the collaboration and passion on our team that bring ideas and initiatives to fruition and support our clients and Team Members!”

You mentioned starting your Hilton journey before you enlisted in the Army National Guard. Could you share what motivated you to join and how that experience has impacted your approach to teamwork and leadership?

“I always had a desire to serve my country by joining the military, but I could not find the right time. My desire to enlist continued to grow, and the right time arrived. My experience in the military has had a profound impact on how I function within a team. I learned that the mission never changes, but the execution often does; therefore, being adaptable and flexible is key to accomplishing the mission. I also learned that people are our greatest asset, so we must always support and care for each other.”

In what ways have Hilton’s benefits/programs, policies, or leaders supported you as a service member in the National Guard, particularly during periods of deployment or training?

“Absolutely. This year, my unit has been activated for hurricanes Helene and Milton, totaling approximately three weeks. The leave of absence process is remarkably straightforward. When activated, we usually have 24 hours to report. Notifying HR and my leaders on short notice and receiving their support has been fantastic. Returning to work is also seamless, making my transition to civilian life after service very smooth. I also would like to thank my Leadership Team and colleagues for their unwavering support while I fulfill my duties!”

What is a most memorable moment or accomplishment that stands out for you while on Team Hilton?

“Seeing snow for the first time while visiting a client in Kansas. I live in Florida, so before this trip, I had not had the opportunity to see snow. It was a truly memorable moment, and our clients were just as surprised to learn it was my first time!”

What unique experiences have you gained from participating in the Military TMRG?

“I love the sense of community that I have experienced.”

Is there anything else you would like to share?

“Serving our country never ends, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to do so!”
