Osamah’s journey with Hilton began at a job fair for people with disabilities, where he met Ali, a recruitment officer. During their conversation, Ali spoke about Hilton's inclusive workplace culture, emphasizing that everyone, has the tools and support needed to succeed. This welcoming atmosphere motivated him to join #TeamHilton at Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residences in August 2022.
What was the recruitment process like for you?
“During my interview with Bushra, the Operations Manager, and Abdullah, the Recruitment Manager, they were very clear about Hilton’s commitment to creating an inclusive workplace. They told me, ‘You’ll enjoy working here, and we’ll make sure you have everything you need to succeed.’ Their openness and genuine enthusiasm for supporting people with disabilities made me feel confident in my decision to join. Since then, I have had continuous support from the team, who have been there every step of the way, helping me settle in and grow in my role.”
What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about it?
“I am part of the guest services team, which is the hotel’s information center. We manage guest calls, solve problems, and provide information. What I enjoy most about my role is the supportive and professional work environment. I feel equipped and encouraged by my team to do my best, especially when it comes to helping guests by answering their questions. I have all the tools I need to excel in my role, including a specialized laptop equipped with a screen reader that allows me to navigate the system, identify call numbers, and perform my tasks effectively.”
What advice would you share with others pursuing a fulfilling career?
“Many people with disabilities worry about not being given opportunities because of their challenges. The right workplace will believe in your abilities and will support you to succeed. Find an environment where you are valued, and your abilities are recognized. I have found myself in a beautiful and professional environment, and I cannot express how happy and proud I feel to be here. Be sure to surround yourself with people who support, teach, and believe in you. With the right support, you can overcome any challenge and thrive in your career.”
What is the most memorable moment you’ve had at Hilton?
“On my first day, I met Mr. Hans Schiller, our General Manager. We sat down for a chat, and I remember feeling inspired by the exchange of knowledge. That meeting gave me my first positive impression of what my future could look like here at Hilton. One piece of advice that Mr. Schiller shared stuck with me: ‘It is not important to make a mistake. The most important thing is not to repeat the mistake.’ I have taken that advice to heart, and it has guided me to work confidently ever since.”
