The sky is the limit with a career at Hilton, and Eugene is living proof.

Eugene’s Hilton journey started when he joined the team as a Human Resources (HR) Coordinator in 2011, but it did not stop there. Seven jobs later, he reflects on his incredible career so far, the support he has received along the way, and what he loves most about working in hospitality. Read on to get to learn more about Eugene as he shares his best advice for others considering a career on Team Hilton!

Get to Know Eugene

“I started my career (and my very first job!) in the Food & Beverage department and quickly went through various roles in Operations before joining HR on Team Hilton. I chose hospitality early on purely because I have a passion for serving people. Where else can we say we engage with and develop people as part of our ‘job’? This passion for people is my passion. It is what makes my job so rewarding. Seeing people around me progress and develop into some of the greatest hospitality professionals I know today is why I do what I do.”

How has Hilton supported your career growth and development?
“Hilton not only talks about creating a culture of learning, but they also prove it every day. In every role I have had, my leaders here have supported me in taking risks, being bold in what we do, raising the bar on quality Team Member programmes, and building on our founder’s legacy. It is sincere empowerment, along with a safe space to make mistakes, that have enabled me to learn at Hilton, with the knowledge that the reward for getting it right far outweighs any risk we take.”

What is something that has surprised you about your career path?
“It continuously surprises me, even today, how often I learn something new along the way (after 15 years in HR, you might think you have seen it all!). The culture at Hilton fosters true life-long learning, and it is that very culture that allows curious and adventurous Team Members like me to explore and keep expanding my knowledge.” 
What advice would you give to others considering a career at Hilton?
“Be YOU! Hilton is an employer that allows you to bring your best self to work. We celebrate what makes you unique, as that uniqueness is what makes Hilton so special for both Team Members and Guests alike. When you stay true to yourself and have a passion for people and hospitality, the sky is the limit when choosing a career at Hilton!”

Creating a Life-Changing Career: How Hilton and the Türkiye Down Syndrome Association are Changing Lives

For more than a decade, Hilton hotels across Türkiye have been working alongside the Türkiye Down Syndrome Association to expand access to meaningful skill and career development opportunities in hospitality for people with Down Syndrome. Through eduToday, Team Members with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities are employed across nine Hilton hotels in Türkiye, as well as 15 cafés and restaurants, with continued momentum ahead.
