WHAT IS AN APPRENTICESHIP?

Apprenticeships provide team members with the opportunity to combine work and study by mixing on-the-job training with off-the-job learning. Apprentices are employed by Hilton and carry out a real job and usually spend about 20% of their time learning, either off the job in the hotel, at a college or a training center. By the end of the apprenticeship, the Apprentice will have gained the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to commence in their chosen career, and potentially progress onto the next apprenticeship level. Apprentices in every role follow an approved study programme, which means the Team Members will gain a national certification at the end of the apprenticeship.

What-is an apprenticeship

WHERE ARE WE PILOTING THE HILTON GLOBAL APPRENTICESHIP?

Hilton has both a Food and Beverage programme (at Team Member and Supervisory levels) and a Commis Chef Apprenticeship programme. This new global programme is written by Hilton and quality assured by City & Guilds. Countries involved in piloting the Hilton Global Apprenticeship are: Russia, Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Namibia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mauritius, Seychelles and Egypt.

Currently, Apprenticeships are available locally in certain countries such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria.

Why do an apprenticeship? What’s the value and what are the pathways?

Apprenticeships are the perfect route to take to learn how to do a job whilst in the job and is a great combination of learning through experience and off-the-job classroom learning, e-learning courses, self-study and of course digital. The Hilton Global Apprenticeship has been developed for Hilton by Hilton and therefore Apprentices have a huge advantage of understanding the Hilton requirements which they can apply in any Hilton hotel. Apprenticeships provide a career pathway and opportunities to grow in different parts of the business across the operational areas.
