Job Summary

Principle Responsibilities & Position Purpose: To operate the Accounting department in an efficient manner to ensure the gathering and recording of all appropriate accounting data. To implement accounting procedures and policies. To ensure that the General Ledger is properly maintained and has all the supported documents.

Job Snapshot Description

An Assistant Financial Controller is responsible for assisting in the direction and administration of all financial operations of the hotel in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

 
What will I be doing?

 As the Assistant Financial Controller you would be responsible for assisting in the direction and administration of all financial operations of the hotel in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

  •  Manage the department to included, but not limited to, managing special projects, monitoring and developing team member performance, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling , conducting, counseling  and evaluations, delivering recognition and reward, recruiting, interviewing and training team members
  • Directly oversee Accounts Receivable, Credit and Night Audit functions

  • Prepare budget and maintain spending controls to ensure budgetary limits are met

  • Prepare annual depreciation schedules for furniture, equipment, building supplies revisions and alterations

  • Review and approve all ledger account reconciliations including, but not limited to, bank statements, assets liabilities and credit cards

  • Coordinate and review monthly financial statements for accuracy and monitor coding of cash receipts

  • Assist Director with internal daily audits of cash deposits, transfers and preparation for monitoring of the capital budget

  • Prepare financial reports, prepare utilities and telephone accruals, monitor records of inventory and ensure compliance with all established billing and credit standards

  • Review and approve tax returns to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations

  • Monitor, approve an prepare daily payroll accounts and issue all pay checks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

5           %         Maintain accurate accounting records and provide financial reports for the hotel.

5              %             Comply with company timetables and policies.

10           %             Supervise the daily operations of the accounting team members

5              %            Direct all accounting personnel on the Accounting principles and policies to be followed

5              %             Prepare all General Ledger accounts reconciliation in the absence of the Chief Clerk.

5              %             Post all required periodic journal entries, including sales and accounts receivable in the absence of the Chief  Clerk. 

15           %             Prepare monthly financial statement.

15           %             Prepare yearly budget and monthly forecasts.

5              %             On daily basis approve all the paid-outs, deposit refunds and rebates

5              %             Approve all the disbursements

5              %             Check all payments before it is forwarded to the authorized signatories.

5              %             Assist other clerks with their duties as needed.

5              %             Conduct monthly communication meetings in the absence of the Director of Finance.

5              %             Conduct One to One meeting with the accounting personnel every quarter.

5              %             Perform other projects, reports as needed and assigned.

OTHER DUTIES


Assimilate into The Hilton Family PRIDE/CARE culture through understanding, supporting and participating in all elements of PRIDE/CARE.  Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.


Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Hilton from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS


Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety.  The hotel will provide the required PPE.  Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE.  It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.

EDUCATION

Should have an accounting qualification

EXPERIENCE

At least two years' experience in related field required


Hospitality experience required


Must have experience directly supervising employees

GROOMING/UNIFORMS

 All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.

OTHER

 NOTICE:

 Standing, bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to and including ___ lbs. may be required.  The hospitality business functions seven (7) days a week, twenty-four hours a day.  In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
